Biography

German-born artist Ella Sarkisyan was surrounded by creative influences as a child.

Raised by a family of artists, it was no surprise that Sarkisyan decided to attend the Studio Art School of Yerevan, Armenia. Sarkisyan continued her studies at Yerevan State University, where she received her Master of Fine Arts.

Shortly after completing her studies, Sarkisyan began exhibiting her work around the world. After relocating to the United States in 1995, she began exhibiting her work at the Armenian Center of Contemporary Experimental Art, where she earned the respect of art collectors and critics.

Sarkisyan has since exhibited her work in various art galleries across the United States, including the Harvest Art Gallery, the Hamilton Gallery in New York, and the Selkouth Fine Art Gallery.

Art Direction's Advice
Art Gallery Third Millennium

As she says; Ella Sarkisyan is the last of a family of artists.

The work she presents is a summary of symbolic references. It is a contamination of symbols and fetishes that recalls the sensuality and the mysticism the literature and the abandon to fantasies and hallucinations. These are clear obsessions by repeating of texture styles, by colors and embroideries by some references to italian classical culture and liteature ( Petrarca ) and neo-classicism.

It is an experimental art that has already gone beyond the "arte povera" and the "street art" of sixties and seventies. This work does not accept the oppressive overstatements of some contemporary artists but it has an elegant and soft un-formality.

It is interesting the insertion of symbolic and hermetic sentences of which we can appreciate only the phonetic harmony. By the other hand it seems that the fundamental theme is the miracle of renewal of life as well as of creativity of artist.
